National Science Week 2024 Grants now open in Western Australia

National Science Week is Australia's largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). This year it will take place from Saturday 10 August - Sunday 18 August 2024.

This morning Inspiring WA, supported by the WA Coordinating Committee for National Science Week (WACC), opened Small Grants of up to $4,000 and Mit-tier Grants of up to $10,000 to support new activities and projects which can engage the community with STEM.

Both grants are open to regional and metropolitan applicants. It is highly desirable that funded activities and projects work with, promote, or engage historically under-represented groups in STEM. Further grant criteria are outlined in the respective Grant Guidelines.

If you are looking for support in developing an activity or project, get in touch with one of our WACC committee members who are available to support you.

This article will cover:

Key Dates

Applications open - Monday 18 March 2024, 9am (AWST)

Applicant Information session - Wednesday 27 March, 5.30pm - 6.30pm

Applications close - Monday 22 April 2024, 5pm (AWST)

Mid-tier Grants

Mid-tier grants of up to $10,000 (or up to $15,000 for exceptional events) are available to support major projects taking place across WA for National Science Week. Projects must demonstrate that they can connect the community with STEM.

Projects will ideally take place during National Science Week (10 - 18 August) and must be conducted no earlier than 3 August 2024 and be completed no later than 25 August 2024.

Small Grants

Small Grants are available to support all other activities during National Science Week which are not major projects. To be eligible, activities must take place anytime in August 2024. It is still preferred that grant recipients deliver their activity as close to National Science Week as practical.

Applicant Information session

An information session will be held by the WACC on Wednesday 27 March 2024 at 5.30pm via Teams. The session will cover common mistakes in grant applications, explain the review process and provide practical tips for a successful application. The information session will include time for a live Q&A session to clarify any questions you may have about the application process.
